Regularly Scheduled SCIC Events

Ø SCIC Board Meetings:  The SCIC Board meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6:00 PM, at members homes.  Contact us for the next location.

Ø SCIC General Meetings:  The SCIC holds a general meeting for all members and the public on the third Sunday of each month at 5:00 PM, at members homes or in the community.  Contact us for the next location.

Ø June 4-6 Honoring of the Elders Powwow, Mt. Madonna County Park, Gilroy-Watsonville, CA.

Ø June 19 14th Annual Indian Canyon Storytelling and Indigenous Gathering, Indian Canyon, Hollister, CA.

Ø June 26 Santa Cruz Indian Council Intertribal Gathering, Louden Nelson Center, Santa Cruz, CA.

For many millennia some of our ancestors kept a record of the passage of time on buffalo robes.  They noted the seasons and important events.  The robes were used as a guide to pass on knowledge from generation to generation by skilled storytellers.

Ø SCIC is participating as part of the United People of the Land on a weekly basis with the Pajaro Valley Ohlone Indian Council and the City of Watsonville, for access to land dedicated to Native American cultural and educational activities.  Weekly on Wednesdays, 6:00PM,  Watsonville, City Building.  Contact us for more information.

2010 SCIC Powwow was a success!

We will begin planning our 2011 Intertribal Gathering soon.  If you are interested in helping us put this event together, we welcome, corporate or personal donations, in-kind contributions, or volunteer assistance.  We’d love to hear from you.
